JAMES FRAMPTON

James Frampton is a multi-instrumentalist musician, writer, composer, music producer and actor, whose passion for performing is deeply linked to a strong musical background and family. He is an accomplished pianist, guitarist and drummer with over 10 years of experience in each, to go with a passion for learning new instruments including tenor saxophone and bass guitar. His short time in the industry has seen him work as an actor or musician (or both) with accomplished music directors such as Rainer Pollard, Mark Bradley, Natalya Aynsley, Michael Tyack and Peter Rutherford.

In theatre, James’ band credits include “Footloose” (2018 - Drums) and “The Hello Girls” at The Hayes Theatre (2024) where James played keys 2 and guitar, as well as bass guitar in one of five on-stage tracks he covered. In his time studying at the Victorian College of the Arts, James produced the “Move On” Song Concert and Fundraiser where he accompanied his cohort of 20 students on either piano or guitar, as well as performing himself.

Outside of theatre, he spent 5 years writing, recording and performing with the indie-rock band “The Avenue” at iconic venues in the Melbourne live music scene, playing drums and singing lead vocal. James released 3 EP’s with the band before pursuing both his career in musical theatre, as well as personal writing and performing ambitions, including the creation of an original musical (ongoing), playing piano in a jazz trio and, more recently, writing and producing music as an independent artist. James is an adept musician, with keen musicality and a versatile skill set ranging from arrangements, to music production, to live performance and band work.
